Introduction
Sensation and perception play important roles in how people view the world. The way individuals perceive the world is dependent on the sensations of sound, taste, color, pain, heat, form, smell, density, amplitude and cold, among others. Development of an understanding of sensation and perceptions is important since the kind of perception that an individual develops influences how one views the world. However, there is small distinction between sensation and perception. The difference between the two is like a whole and a part. It is hard to achieve perception without sensation, neither is it possible to have sensation without perception. Although sensation and perception are intimately related, they play complimentary but distinctive roles.
The concepts of sensation and perceptions are closely related. It is important that a definition of the concepts be provided in order to create a better understanding of the distinction between the two terms. According to (Foley & Matlin, 2015) sensation can be simply referred as the functioning of individual sensory systems.
