Primary health care

            Primary health care is described as the initial stage in which patients interacts with the health care system. This include both health promotion activities and clinical services such as health service delivery, public health-type functions and population-level. The primary health care can be provided at the individual level, community level and at the population level. According to Alma Ata international conference (1978), primary health care is defined as “essential health care based on practical, scientifically sound and socially acceptable methods and technology made universally accessible to individuals and families in the community through their full participation, and at a cost that the community and the country can afford to maintain at every stage of their development in the spirit of self-determination.” Generally, primary health care components differ based on the context.
