STEP 1: Visit one of the following newspapers’ websites: USA Today, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, or Washington Post. Select an article that uses statistical data related to a current event, your major, your current field, or your future career goal. The chosen article must have been published after the start of this term.
Examples may include:
Elections/exit polls
Award shows (Oscars/Emmys/Grammys)
Sports
Economy/job market
Gender equality
Human rights issues
The article should use one or more of the following categories of descriptive statistics:
Measures of Frequency – Counting Rules, Percent, Frequency, Frequency Distributions
Measures of Central Tendency – Mean, Median, Mode
Measures of Dispersion or Variation – Range, Variance, Standard Deviation

Note: Once you navigate to a publication’s website, it may be easiest to do a search with a statistics-related word (ex: standard deviation).
Part A:
1. Provide a summary of the article you have chosen by identifying the purpose and what real-world problem it is addressing/trying to solve. Include the following information:(Bulleted format, as shown below, is acceptable). • Topic (what real world problem does this study address?) • Date of publication/study.• Author/Researchers.• Audience for the article.• Why the article was written.
2. Explain which category(s) of descriptive statistics is used in the study and how it is used to communicate the information found in the study and/or any conclusions/solutions posed (1–2 paragraphs). Make sure to clearly connect your explanation to the purpose/real world problem the article is addressing.
3. Describe several connections, using specific examples, between the information presented/the problem and its larger impact to the world/your major/current job/future career goal. (1–2 paragraphs).
4. Recommend several highly relevant and valid solutions based on the mathematical and visual data provided in the article.
Part B: This must be a PowerPoint !

How COVID-19 affects our bodies and communities. While things may still look bleak, the FDA has granted emergency use authorization to several vaccines to combat COVID-19. One type of vaccine that has been developed is an RNA-based vaccine. In this week’s Get to Know a Scientist assignment, you will learn a little bit about RNA-based vaccines and about Dr. Kizzmekia Corbett and her contribution to developing Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine.
First, watch the following video that provides a brief explanation of the mechanism behind Moderna’s RNA-based COVID-19 vaccine:
Dr. Kizzmekia Corbett, a viral immunologist, has been working at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to better understand viral immune responses. Dr. Corbett served as the scientific lead for the development of Moderna’s Coronavirus vaccine as you saw above. In addition to her work at the NIH, Dr. Corbett is involved with science communication and public engagement to inspire youth in underserved communities. Dr. Corbett is featured in TIME Magazine’s 2021 TIME 100 Next List (Links to an external site.), which highlights 100 emerging leaders who are trailblazers in their field.
Next, watch the video below to hear Dr. Corbett describe her work and learn about how she became the leading scientist on the development of this vaccine:
After reviewing the videos and articles, write a 300 word or more reflection with your responses to what you saw. Some topics you might wish to discuss include but are not limited to:
What was the most interesting or most confusing about the resources you examined?
What have you learned about the development of vaccine trials from these articles?
What do these resources tell you about the types of people that do science?
What new questions do you have after reviewing these resources?

Remember it is to fight against their negative ideas about vaccine not to support their ideas.
As COVID-19 vaccines become more available, you may find yourself having conversations with friends and family members about the vaccine. Some may be excited and hopeful about getting the vaccine, while others may be hesitant. For this assignment, we are going to practice finding reputable information about COVID-19 vaccines.
Post Requirements
The assignment requires two posts, each completed individually.
First Post – Due Tuesday
A friend has been posting claims about the COVID-19 vaccines on social media.
Pick one of the claims below that your friend posted. Use the claim as the title of your discussion post. Before you pick a claim, check the discussion board to make sure that no one else has posted about the same claim.
The COVID-19 vaccine is not effective against the delta variant.
There’s no benefit in getting the COVID-19 vaccine if you’ve already had COVID-19.
The COVID-19 vaccine changes your DNA.
Even vaccinated people can get COVID-19, so there’s no point in getting the vaccine.
The COVID-19 vaccine is unsafe because its development was rushed.
You can get COVID-19 from the vaccine.
The COVID-19 vaccine contains a microchip.
If you are allergic to eggs, you shouldn’t get the COVID-19 vaccine.
The mRNA technology used to make COVID-19 vaccines is brand new and can’t be trusted.
More people will die as a result of a negative side effect to the COVID-19 vaccine than would actually die from the virus.
COVID-19 vaccines were developed using fetal tissue.
The COVID-19 vaccine causes infertility.
Find a reputable website that would help your friend to learn more about the topic you identified and include the link in your post. Explain how you know this website is reputable using the CRAAP Test. (CRAAP is an acronym for Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy, and Purpose.) Address at least one bullet point from each category in your explanation.

The owner of Lakewood IT wants to create an IT service department as one of their product offerings. This service department may exist at multiple, company locations and, possibly, in multiple buildings at the same location. Management needs to determine whether we are suited to expand into this new specialty within six (6) months. Currently, we have two customer-facing departments: IT Hardware/Software Sales and IT Parts. If we choose to create a service department, this will add a third customer-facing department to Lakewood IT. No longer will we need to refer customers to outside repair service companies. We will be able to sell new IT hardware/software, sell replacement parts, and service the hardware/software. Truly, we will be a one-stop shop for all home IT needs!
As I think about it, I probably did not give you enough information about this proposed service department. The service department will have both virtual and live technicians to fix the customer’s IT issues. This will require people to set up the home service appointments, technicians to assess, estimate, and fix the hardware/software, and coordinate with parts department to get the necessary parts for repair. The parts department may need to change their inventory and ordering process to accommodate the larger volume of parts needed with the new service department.
Task:
Lakewood IT’s management is asking for additional information in your analysis. They are tasking you with exploring and researching some options associated with their project. Management wants you to research IT service implementation options. More specifically, you must research Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions vs. non-SaaS solutions for IT service departments. The paper must:
Identify and describe, at least, two SaaS solutions and two non-SaaS solutions
Describe, at least, two benefits and two limitations associated with each solution
Identify one preferred SaaS solution and one, preferred non-SaaS solution as the best options for Lakewood IT.
The paper must not exceed 5 pages of content (the title page, abstract [if required], reference pages, figures/tables, and appendices are not content pages). In addition, the paper must use:
Times New Roman, 12 pt font/typeset
Double spaced lines
The APA Manual, 7th edition’s title page, header, margins, figure, table, and heading formatting
The APA Manual, 7th edition’s writing mechanic guidelines
Search the Web for several InfoSec-related job postings.
● Do the postings comply with the concerns outlined in chapters 8 and 9?
● Why or why not?
● If not, what is missing?

Her family stated that she was able to function fully a couple of months ago but has been gradually experiencing weakness in her extremities, along with blurred vision. You assessed the patient and found her vital signs to be BP 118/66, P-98, R-16, SpO2-98% on room air, and her electrocardiogram shows a sinus rhythm. Upon examination, you noticed the patient had weakness in both lower extremities and difficulty focusing on your hand. The patient denies any dizziness. An IV was successfully established. Upon arrival to the hospital, the doctor immediately told the unit to take the patient to run an MRI. You stayed to complete paperwork but decided to return to ask the doctor about the results of the MRI. The doctor stated the patient’s MRI was positive for multiple sclerosis (MS). What is multiple sclerosis? How does the disease affect the neurological system? What does an MS patient experience?
Your response must be at least 500 words in length
