Ohio Board of Nursing and The Delaware Board of Nursing

 Ohio Board of Nursing

In Ohio, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) must practice under a Standard Care Arrangement with a physician. Advanced Practice Nurses in Ohio must practice under a physician or podiatrist when providing direct patient care in a healthcare organization. According to (Ohio Board of Nursing, 2021) an “Advanced Practice Registered Nurse may prescribe a Schedule II-V controlled substance under the direction of a physician or podiatrist.” In Ohio, the APRNs must prescribe according to the Standard Care Arrangement with the collaborating physician, consistent with the APRNs national certification and according to the state and federal law (Ohio Laws & Administrative Rules, 2018). An APRN who prescribes medications must complete an approved 45-hour course in advance pharmacology.

Delaware Board of Nursing

According to (Delaware.gov, 2021) an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who is approved for independent practice is “allowed to practice and prescribe outside the employment of an established healthcare organization, healthcare delivery system, physician, podiatrist, or practice group owned by a physician or podiatrist without a collaborative agreement.” An APRN in Delaware who has practiced for at least two years and has 4,000 hours in their current practice can also practice independently without a collaborating agreement. Delaware.gov (2021) grants APRNs prescriptive authority when granting an initial license by direct application or endorsement. An APRN may prescribe, administer, and dispense legend medications, including Schedule II-V controlled substances (Delaware.gov, 2021).

The Difference Between the Ohio Board of Nursing and The Delaware Board of Nursing

In Ohio, an APRN must work under a collaborating physician, and the physician does not have to be on-site with the APRN. The APRN can order labs, and radiology tests, prescribe medication, and perform a physical examination. In Delaware, the APRNs can prescribe medication and treat patients independently without a collaborating agreement if they have practiced in their population focus for two years and have completed 4,000 full-time hours.

APRNs Legal Authority to Practice within the Full Scope of Education and Experience

An APRN must apply for a full practice authority to practice independently without a collaboration agreement with a podiatrist or physician. The APRN has the authority to prescribe without having a collaborating team on site. To adhere to the regulations, the APRN must complete the required continuing education and training hours in the area of their certification in addition to required clinical experience hours. APRNs must complete 80 hours of continuing education and medical education for their licensure renewal every two years. The APRNs must obtain a DEA number and complete an approved continuing education prescribing course.

From 2018 to 2019, we have witnessed two crashes of Lion Air Flight 610 and Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302, resulting in 346 deaths. Both crashed jets were Boeing 737 Max, a minor upgrade of the best-selling fleet Boeing’s 737 designed in the 1960s. The crashes were attributed to the malfunction of the maneuvering characteristics augmentation system (MCAS). It was a stopgap measure designed to compensate for an anomaly that resulted from the mismatch between the outdated 737 platform and a larger new engine. Boeing could save billions of dollars in engineering costs by basing the Max off of the existing platform.

The 737 Max was reportedly rushed to the market in the face of the existential threat from the A320neo. Boeing’s 737 and Airbus’ A320 are the two main players in the massively profitable market for narrow-body passenger jets. Both manufacturers are locked in a race to make their airplanes cheaper for airlines to operate.

To fix the anomaly would trigger additional manufacturing costs, regulatory approval, and loss of orders. Instead, Boeing deployed representatives around the world to shore up confidence in the Max after the first Lion Air crash. Between November 2018 and March 2019, Boeing announced new orders from multiple airlines, and it even managed to talk Lion Air out of canceling its $5 billion order.

After the Ethiopian Airlines crash, regulators around the world began to ground the airplane. The United States didn’t follow suit, however, and was the last country to ground 737 Max. Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg reportedly called President Trump to assure him that the 737 Max was safe to fly. The company was also reportedly a major political force in Washington and a large US government contractor. It spent about $15 million on lobbying in 2018 and took in over $23 billion in government contracts in the 2017 (the second largest government contractor in the US).

a. What assumptions of capitalism has been manifested in the 737 Max case? Pick any three assumptions of capitalism discussed in the course and explain how they help to understand the case. (500 words max)

b. How are the debates around CSR, shareholders/stakeholder, short-term/long-term, and corporate power reflected in this case? Pick any two debates discussed in the course and describe in detail how they are relevant to this case. (750 words max)

c. Could something like this happen again? What measures can be taken to prevent it? Use measures/approaches discussed in the course to support your argument. (500 words max)

IMPORTANT NOTE:

• If a student wants to point any comments from any source, the source must be clearly pointed on the paper as per APA format

Hegemonic masculinity

We are looking at hegemonic masculinity, feminism, gender, and power. How do we explore these difficult questions of power and sexism but also include women’s voices which have traditionally been left out of the dialogue? Language is deeply rooted in power, and the construction of gender has left women’s voices in the periphery. As we look at feminism and criminology as well as women policing, you are charged this week with thinking critically about women’s voices in the realm of power and control—control not of other people but of women themselves in the arena of crime and policing, both of which have been relegated to men and masculinity.

  1. In your own words, define “hegemonic masculinity” and give an example.
  2. Getting at difficult questions, think about your favorite relative or friend asking if you think the U.S. is a patriarchal society. After reviewing the material this week, how would you respond?
  3. Finally, using research, back up your arguments with at least one scholarly source

Deviance as Crime Presentation

Assignment One: Deviance as Crime Presentation

Assignment Overview

Not all deviance is crime, and not all crimes are considered deviant. For example, jaywalking is technically against the law in many places, however it is so commonplace that it is likely to be considered the norm rather than a deviant act. By contrast, many forms of deviance are not against the law, no matter how unusual they may seem; for example, in some locations nudity is not illegal, nor is the use of recreational marijuana, nor intimate arrangements such as polyamory. For this assignment, you must choose a type of deviance that is also a crime — that is, it is illegal — and apply our course concepts to the illegal deviance.

Assignment Instructions

For this assignment, you will put together a presentation of 10 slides minimum. You may use a presentation program of your choice such as any of these which offer free use:

PowerPoint.

Your Presentation must explore the following:

1) Select a type of deviance that is ALSO a crime – that is, it is illegal. Describe this behavior and how it impacts society, giving solid statistical data to explain the scope of the problem. How is this type of deviance typically depicted in the media (providing examples, if applicable)? What seems to be the perception of this behavior in society? Does it seem that there is a change in perception in society in terms of activities that were once illegal (such as the legalization of marijuana in many states)?

2) Integrating information from the course readings and materials, how would a positivist explain the deviant behavior you selected?

3) Integrating information from the course readings and materials, how would a social constructionist explain the deviant behavior you selected?

4) Define TWO sociological concepts/theories from our course materials — OTHER than positivism or social constructionism — that relate to your example of deviance and analyze how these concepts/theories help to better understand the deviance you are discussing.

Note – Concepts may include ideas such as class, gender, race, ethnicity, stratification, disability, and many others — these are just examples. You need to choose concepts that make sense in your analysis. Sociological theories may include conflict theory, feminist theory, symbolic interactionism, functionalism and others. These are just examples; you need to choose theories that make sense in your analysis.

Do not use unverifiable, secondary sites such as Wikipedia, about.com, ask.com, and similar. Use our course materials, peer-reviewed journal articles from the library, and other scholarly sources.

Your presentation should utilize sound critical thought and full APA references at the end.

The structure of the Presentation must include the following:

— TITLE SLIDE/SECTION (1 slide)

— BODY OF PRESENTATION WITH SUBHEADINGS (8 slides minimum)

— REFERENCE SLIDE/SECTION (1-2 slides)

General requirements:

Use APA format for citations and references
