GEOGRAPHY PROJECT PLAN INSTRUCTIONS OVERVIEW The Geography Project Plan is a research paper and a capstone assignment whereby you will apply geographic and research skills toward solving a real problem.INSTRUCTIONS . The project must be feasible in scale and scope for a student’s time and budget. Choose a specific location rather than a grand scale project like ending world hunger. Your plan must be 1,000–1,250 words, use Times New Roman 12-point font with 1-inch margins, include a cover page, the required sections (shown below), a reference page, a map, and a realistic budget. Cite at least five scholarly sources (other than Scripture, the textbook, and Wikipedia) in current APA format. The project can have an environmental focus, e.g., access to clean drinking water; preserving natural habitats; reducing air and water pollution; or dealing with the aftermath of natural disasters like floods, tsunamis, and earthquakes. Many students choose humanitarian projects focused on health, education, and financial needs, e.g., educating illiterate populations; helping start businesses; feeding the malnourished; or resourcing underserved schools, health clinics, hospitals, or orphanages. Your project may be as simple as building a wheelchair ramp for your neighbor or building a new playground at your church. The project may expand upon an existing service, but you must identify what services currently exist and how the services may be expanded based on your contribution. You must include realisitic materials, transportation, labor, and other associated costs. For example, is there a need for additional homeless shelters? If shelters exist, where are they located and what populations do they serve? Is there a need for shelters to safely house families, or just women and children? How much would it cost to erect and operate a homeless shelter for the number of clients that you are proposing? Step 1: State the objective (what will be accomplished) and location of the project, e.g., “I will provide clean drinking water to the rural population in Nimba, Liberia by digging three wells.” Then give a brief explanation based on your initial research for why this project is needed. Step 2: Research, analyze, and describe the problem through a geographic lens. Consider the terms and concepts in the textbook and the five main themes of geography. Step 3: Describe a feasible course of action to solve the problem. The paper must explain the who, what, why, and where of this project. In the end, this paper is about the proposed solution, or Project Plan. Step 4: List and describe the detailed costs of the project (i.e. materials, transportation, labor, etc.) Step 5: Utilize and bold highlight at least five geographic terms from the text. Step 6: Incorporate the five main themes of geography into their required section headings.Use the following 10 required main sections when writing your paper. You may include subheadings as needed.GEOG 200Page 2 of 3I. IntroductionII. General Overview and RationaleIII. Region RelevanceIV. Location RelevanceV. Place RelevanceVI. Movement RelevanceVII. Human-Environmental Interaction RelevanceVIII BudgetIX. SummaryX. ReferencesHINT: The CIA World Factbook is a helpful place to begin when studying another country.Start by describing and analyzing the significance of location. Is the problem unique to a specific location or region? Why or why not? Describing the location of a low income rural town relative to regions of industry or agriculture can be revealing. Is the location a conurbation, technopole, forward capital, or primate city?Follow with a regional analysis that might include physiography (climate, terrain, bodies of water, flora and fauna), culture, population data (demographics), the economy, political geography, urban development, industrialization, and agriculture. How would you characterize the people, i.e., their culture, lifestyle and beliefs? How do language, gender, religion, and cultural traditions and values affect the project? Are the people part of a shatterbelt? Think about the sectors of the economy and development. Is the area you are addressing a periphery, semi-periphery, or core state, and how does that help or hinder the solution to the problem? Are the people subsistence farmers? Describe the population. Analyze the population distribution and density. Is it a floating population? Look at demographics like the birth rate, infant mortality rate, overall longevity, ratio of physicians to population, per capita income, average years of education or illiteracy, and the dependency ratio. What do those statistics indicate regarding the problem to be solved?Movement, or connectivity, is often a key component in any geographic analysis. Will you move people, goods, or information? How will you do that? What are the challenges of movement? Can you hand out brochures or a Bible if the people receiving them are illiterate? Do they have access to the internet? Is there adequate transportation infrastructure to move people and goods? Are roads improved or unimproved? Is there access to public transportation? Analyze physiography as it relates to movement. Think about transferability of goods, distance decay, or the movement of people through immigration or emigration.Study the cultural landscape and develop a sense of place. This can add insight to the culture and the economy. Can the type of places of worship indicate cultural or ethnic diversity in a location? Where is the nearest hospital or college? Do most people live in single-family homes, or do most residents rent? Can the number of traffic lights in a town indicate size?Consider the cause and effect of human interaction with the natural environment as it relates to your project. It may be as simple as studying the general climate and the seasonal effect on GEOG 200Page 3 of 3activities and services. Do the people contend with devastating drought, earthquakes, tsunamis, or hurricanes? Have people permanently altered the natural landscape through deforestation or the construction of dams, levees, or canals?Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool.GEOG 200Page 3 of 3activities and services. Your essay should have good introduction, main part, and conclusion, and should be written in a clear, concise style and should be free of spelling and grammatical mistakes before handing it in. Ensure all group members proofread your essay for linguistic errors. Essay should not be more than 1500 words. If you are including tables or graphs in your essay, which is often appropriate and useful for summarizing data, make sure they are clearly labelled with a number and title, so that they can be understood without reading the text in which they are embedded.
Always quote the source of the data (or the table / figure if you are reproducing an existing table or figure) below the table or graph. When typing your essays please use 1.5 line-spacing and allow a larger margin on the right. (For example, 1.5 cm left margin and 2.5 cm right margin.) Make use of section headings to organise your essay as appropriate, but avoid having too many short paragraphs and sections.
It should be in your own words. Copying directly from somewhere will result zero. It should not be Plagiarised. Use references from where did you get the following content.

The National Learning Consortium (NLC) is a virtual and evolving body of knowledge and tools designed to support healthcare providers and health IT professionalsworking towards the implementation, adoption and meaningful use of certified EHR systems.
The NLC represents the collective EHR implementation experiences and knowledge gained directly from the field of ONC’s outreach programs (REC, Beacon, State HIE) and through the Health Information Technology Research Center (HITRC) Communities of Practice (CoPs).
The following resource is an example of a tool used in the field today that is recommended by “boots-on-the-ground” professionals for use by others who have made the commitment to implement or upgrade to certified EHR systems. Description
These guidelines are intended to aid providers and health IT implementers in planning for EHR implementation through the definition of goals and objectives. This resource can help define goals for quality improvement and help identify which features of the EHR are critical to the established goals. If you can define your goals, you can define your needs. If you can define your needs, then you can select an EHR system that will meet your needs.
Establishing realistic, measureable goals and objectives for EHR implementation is critical to determine whether or not an implementation was successful. These guidelines include examples that can be used to assist with goal and objective development. They also outline several dimensions upon which a practice can establish goals and objectives. The last section provides a template to document specific goals and objectives. Instructions
Review the guidelines to identify goals and objectives for EHR implementation. Use the template provided in section 7 to document specific goals and objectives. Use the template in section 8 to document benchmarks and track progress at 6 and 12 months post implementation. Table of Contents

“WHY” implement EHRs?
This EHR implementation step should help practice leadership evaluate their current state to determine what is working well and what can be improved. Some of the questions providers ask themselves during this phase include:
“Am I accomplishing what I thought I would be doing when I decided to go to medical school?”
“Are we providing the best possible care to our patients, or are we simply trying to make it through the week?”
“If I had more time, what would I do differently?”
“What would it be like to leave the office yet stay connected to my practice?”
At this stage, practice leadership and staff should consider the practice’s clinical goals, needs, financial and technical readiness as they transition.
Getting Started
Start with a workflow analysis and identify the bottlenecks and inefficiencies that exist today. Decide which bottlenecks and inefficiencies you want to improve and assign them a priority. It doesn’t matter so much where you start — as long as you start somewhere.
In setting priorities, you may want to consider the following:
In what areas is our performance far from ideal?
What improvements do we think our patients will notice most?
Where do we think we can be successful in making change?
What groups of clinicians and staff should we involve in each item, and what is their readiness for change?
Goal Definition
Goals and needs should be documented to help guide decision-making throughout the implementation process. They may need to be re-assessed throughout the EHR implementation steps to ensure a smooth transition for the practice and all staff.
Set goals in areas that are important and meaningful to your practice. These may be clinical goals, revenue goals, or goals related to work environment. Goals in all three areas will help assure balanced processes after the implementation. Goals that are important to you will help you and your staff through the change process. We recommend you follow the “SMART” goals process. This process includes setting objectives and goals that meet the following criteria:
Specific – Achieving the goal would make a difference for our patients and our practice
Measureable – We can quantify the current level and the target goal
Attainable – Although the goal may be a stretch, we can achieve it
Relevant – This is worth the effort
Time bound – There are deadlines and opportunities to celebrate success!
These goals become the guide posts for an EHR implementation project, and achieving these goals will motivate providers and practice staff to make necessary changes and attain new skills.
Have some fun with goal setting. Involve everyone in the office by asking for creative suggestions on ways to eliminate inefficiency.
Action Plan
For each goal, define a plan of action for achieving the goal. What specific steps do you need to take to reach your goal?
Successes should be celebrated along the way. Implementing an EHR is a long process. Keeping the momentum and support of staff is important, so acknowledging success and interim milestones will help to sustain the effort.
Measuring Success
Determine how to measure the success of your action plan. Keep it simple! Don’t get hung up on statistics, sample size and complicating factors. However utilize any baseline data you may have, so you’ll have something to compare your quality improvement efforts to.
If you don’t meet your measurement for success the first time, re-evaluate, and try again. Quality improvement is a never-ending task.
Examples
Exhibit 1: Examples
Goal

For your JCAHO Core Measurements for Ambulatory Care, how many are currently meeting established benchmarks? How many are not meeting benchmarks?
For this assignment, you will assess your organization’s customer service training. You will focus on the analyze and design phases of the ADDIE model (analysis, design, develop, implement, and evaluate). You will not be developing, implementing, or evaluating a new training.
After analyzing your existing customer service training, design a new program with improvements. Prepare a memo to your leadership team explaining how the customer service training program can be improved upon to ensure that employee and organizational behaviors align with excellent customer service.
Include the components listed below in your memo:
Describe areas of the current training that are deficient.
Define the industry standards and best practices that should be used as a model to establish the foundation of your program.
Identify behaviors and testing models that can be implemented when onboarding new employees—or as a continuing education process for current employees.
Describe measurable customer service standards.
Explain behaviors consistent with good customer service.
Recommend steps the organization should take to develop and implement a new customer service training program. Include specific information about issues facing your community.
Your completed assignment must be at least two pages in length. At a minimum, you must cite and reference the eTextbook and one outside source for your analysis. Adhere to APA Style when creating citations and references for this assignment

Before covid hit, I assigned a written exercise in this class about the movie theater experience. Now, I’m not comfortable requiring students to go to a theater, so this is your alternative option. Read through the assignment information BEFORE you watch a movie.
Watch one of the journalism movies on the list provided by the Poynter Institute. Please select a movie you have not seen before. Answer the questions below for your assignment. I am incorporating some of the ideas from the in-person movie theater experience assignment since our textbook discusses movies from the theater perspective, not so much home movies or streaming.
When is the last time you went to the theater? What movie did you see? How often do you go to movies in the theater? Do you go for general entertainment or a special occasion? Why?
BEFORE YOU WATCH THE JOURNALISM MOVIE: Check the advertising for it (movie trailers, reviews, movie websites). BEFORE YOU WATCH THE JOURNALISM MOVIE: write down what you think the movie will be about from watching trailers and reading reviews.
After you watch the movie, write down what it was actually about, compared with what you assumed it was about from watching trailers and reviews.
How would you rate the movie if you were a reviewer? Find some reviews about it and report what others say about it.
What is the Bechdel Test (See chapter 8)? Does the movie pass the test? Do you think it’s a valid test?
How were the journalists portrayed in the movie, in a positive light or negative? Do you have any stereotypes about what you think a typical journalist looks like or behaves? Did this movie reinforce that typecasting?
Was the movie fictional, based on a true story, or documentary? How did you decide which movie to watch?
Do you think the movie experience would have been different if you had seen it in the theater?
Film Analysis Paper: 8 pages in length. This paper will count for 30% of your grade. Late papers will be penalized 2/3 of a letter grade per day.
For this paper, choose one of the following five films and write an essay about how it represents issues related to this class: race/ethnicity, class, gender, sexuality, and ability. Your essay should consider intersectionality: how do these various “categories” of social identity relate to one another in your chosen film?
Also keep in mind the social and industrial contexts of your chosen film while writing your essay. For example, is your film a Hollywood social problem film from the 1940s, or an independent film from the 1980s? As such, you should consider questions of authorship, genre, and/or other aesthetic concerns. Draw on your textbook and classroom experience to help situate your film; if you don’t know anything about it, you should do a little research (imdb.com is a quick reference site).
These essays are thus analytical essays that place the given film text within some of its various contexts. Your analysis will need to be organized around a thesis of your own devising, which might be something as simple as “Film X is a good example of [Film Type Y] because it embodies formal elements that represent diversity issues in [These] ways.”
Close textual reading of you chosen film will produce a better paper.
Choose one of the following films to analyze:
1. Fried Green Tomatoes (1991, dir. Jon Avnet)
2. Judas and the Black Messiah (2021, dir. Shaka King)
3. Minari (2020, dir. Lee Isaac Chun)
4. Three Billboard Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017, dir. Martin McDonagh)
5. Hustlers (2019, dir. Lorene Scafaria)
Papers will be uploaded to www.turnitin.com before or during Week 15, due date May 3.
Caveats and Helpful Hints
This assignment is NOT about summarizing the story, NOR is it about describing the film in a shot by shot manner. You should assume your reader is familiar with the film in question and any story synopsis should brief.
BEFORE YOU WRITE
*Make sure you have seen the film you are going to write about. Consider watching it twice and taking notes on its form and style.
*Make sure you understand the assignment. If you have any questions or doubts, contact the teaching assistants or the professor.
*You may want to prepare an outline before you start to write.
FORMAT
*Use one-inch margins on all sides of each page. DOUBLE SPACE your lines.
*Underline, italicize or CAPITALIZE the titles of the films you discuss. Do not place them in quotation marks. Note that underlining the titles is the preferred method since it allows you to use italics for emphasis.
*Number the pages in the top right corner, and place your last name on the word file.
*An original title is not an absolute requirement. However, try to provide one if you can.
*Put your name, the instructor’s name, the course title, and the date on the title page.
GRAMMAR AND STYLE
*Do not use regionalisms, slang, or colloquial language (“kind of,” “sort of,” “like,” etc.)
*Structure your sentences clearly and precisely. Any claim you make has to be supported with convincing evidence.
*If a sentence becomes too long, split it into two before it gets out of control.
*Avoid sentence fragments. Every sentence needs a subject and a verb.
*Do not overuse pronouns (he, she, they, etc.). When you do use pronouns, make sure it is clear to what or whom they refer.
*Avoid repetition. Don’t make the same point over and over.
*Avoid contracted forms (use “it is” not “it’s,” “they are” not “they’re,” etc.).
STRUCTURE
*Make sure your opening paragraph contains a specific and precisely formulated thesis that anticipates the main points of the argument of the essay.
*Your paragraphs should reflect a logical development of the thesis.
*Make sure your argument flows smoothly, with clear transitions between paragraphs and sentences.
*Support general observations with concrete examples.
CONTENT
*We are not interested in your personal opinions about the quality of the film you are analyzing. Whether you enjoyed the film or not is irrelevant to the assignment. Try to be as objective as possible.
Bunny Frank has done so well with Yummy Bunny Pastries that she opened a new business next door called Yummy Bunny Healthy Fare. Her customers like the idea of healthy foods. Formal and informal surveys show that customers find the food to be tasty and appealing. Recently, though, business has fallen off, and customers have complained of slow service. Employee turnover is high, and the business is not profitable. Bunny is unsure what the problems are with her operation. She has not documented her process. She has asked you what she should do. Identify three job design techniques in this unit that you think could be used to improve Bunny’s operations. Be specific about how each technique could be applied and why you think it would be helpful. Write Bunny a business memo of at least one page with your findings. Click here to access the memo template for this assignment. Your business memo should follow APA guidelines and include references to document the research you conducted. Use at least one outside source
Research Paper: 8 pages in length. This paper will count for 30% if your grade. Late papers will be penalized 2/3 of a letter grade per day.
These papers will be analytical/research essays in which you explore one African American film from the pre-selected list in relation toits Type or Genre. Your analysis should explore the film’s historical, socio-cultural, and industrial context, and may touch upon aspects of film style, studio style, auteur style, star persona, film genre, “independence” from Hollywood (or not), film technology, etc.
Please include at least 2-3 (outside of class) references throughout your paper, and engage with ideas from the class about the type or genre of Black film you have chosen. These essays are thus analytical essays that place the given film text within (at least some of) its various contexts. Your analysis should all be organized around a thesis of your own devising, which might be something as simple as “Film X is a good example of [Film Type Y] because it does/embodies these elements.” Close textual reading of you chosen film will produce a better paper.

Try to be as objective as possible
