What is a stroke? A stroke is a medical emergency in which the blood supply to the brain is interrupted or reduced. When a blood vessel carrying oxygen and nutrients to the brain is either blocked by a clot or breaks, a stroke occurs (or ruptures). Anatomy & Physiology

Types of Strokes
Hemorrhagic strokes occur when a blood vessel in the brain leaks or ruptures. Blood can then seep into the brain, killing brain cells. They can result from many conditions that affect your blood vessels. Symptoms develop out of nowhere. Severe headaches, nausea, and vomiting are possible symptoms.
Types of hemorrhagic stroke:
Subarachnoid Hemorrhage: When a blood vessel breaks and bleeds into the space between the brain and the skull, it is known as a SAH. Intracerebral Hemorrhage: When a blood artery in the brain spills into the tissue, it is known as an ICH. The main reasons are high blood pressure and aging blood vessels. This occurs when a blood vessel in the brain bursts and spills into the surrounding brain tissue, damaging brain cells.
When a blood clot stops an artery for a brief period of time, it is known as a transient ischemic attack also known as a “ministroke.” This is when there is a temporary decrease in blood supply to part of the brain. The symptoms are similar to those of a stroke, but they last only a few minutes to hours, and there is no permanent brain damage. Having a TIA raises your chances of having a stroke.

Types of Strokes
Ischemic strokes are caused by a shortage of blood supply to a portion of the brain (American Stroke Association, n.d.). It’s caused by blood arteries in the brain becoming narrowed or clogged, cutting off blood flow:

Treatment
Treatment of the stroke depends on what kind of stroke you have had. If it is an ischemic stroke it is imperative that they get medical help as soon as possible. Assignment: Writing a rough draft of an academic essay “Dieting Makes People Fat”
In previous assignments and discussions, you selected a topic to write about, explored its exigence, audience, and purpose, and researched the topic using credible, scholarly sources. Now you will pull all the information together into a rough draft of an academic essay.
The purpose of this essay is not to prove whether you are right or wrong but to objectively present differing viewpoints about your topic and contribute in a meaningful way to an ongoing conversation about the topic. You may think of your essay as an “argument of inquiry”; intended to lead your audience to a deeper understanding of an issue that affects them. The topic, purpose, and supporting points of your essay are stated in a thesis statement in the first paragraph of the essay.

The textbook, Becoming Rhetorical (Chapter 13) has an example of an academic essay as well. Content and format requirements Content:
A clear thesis statement in the first paragraph that states the purpose of the paper and supporting points
A minimum of one differing viewpoint (counterargument) that is supported by a source. Refute (weaken or dismiss the counterargument or concede it (it’s valid, but the points presented in the paper outweigh the validity/impact of the counterargument).
A conclusion that effectively wraps the discussion.
Include quotations, paraphrases, and summaries from peer-reviewed sources (academic journal sources) representing more than one side of the issue.

The 1250 to 1500-word deliverable for this week is an initial draft of your recommendations. Note that this is a working document and may be modified based on insights gained in module eight and your professor’s feedback. This document should contain the following elements:
Summary of your problem or opportunity definition
A list of possible recommendation alternatives. In this section, you are not yet at the point of suggesting the best set of recommendations but you are trying to be creative and explore all the different ways that the problem or opportunity might best be addressed. The end result here will be a list of alternatives among which you will choose your final recommendations.
Delineation of your suggested actions and recommendations and your initial thinking about the reasons why such recommendations are the best approaches in your present project.
Delineation of some of the kinds of metrics that would show that you have been successful. Here is a great place for integrating SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) as one kind of metric. To learn more about SMART goals, click here. However, your metrics should not be restricted to just SMART goals. What other metrics would help you and the criminal justice entity know that your plan has worked?
