Discussion Points:

  • Do you think McDonald’s quality control video film is a publicity stunt?

I don’t think that McDonald’s quality control video is a publicity stunt. This is because the organization is aims at ensuring that their customers have the utmost transparency regarding the organization’s products and how they are made. Moreover, McDonald purpose with the video is to promote the quality of their product by showing the consumers how they ensure quality in their production process. Further, the quality control video is to ensure that the organization is able to communicate well with their consumers and make sure that they can be able to provide answers regarding their secret recipe. Due to the fact that some of the McDonald’s consumers have been complaining regarding how the food products are made, the quality control video is not a publicity stunt since, the organization aim is to ensure that they are able to show their consumers how they make their products in order to avoid more complains. With the motto ‘our food, your question’ the video shows the honesty and transparency behind their production and the quality of the raw material such as the quality of meat product used. In addition, with the increased competition in the fast food industry, the organization also aim at increasing their market share by communicating well with their consumers especially millennial, who are quick at shifting their consumer behaviour based on their changing taste, preferences and demands.

  • Can the meat supplier in China be blamed for tarnishing the image of fast food chains like McDonald’s?

The meat supplier in China cannot be blamed for tarnishing the image of fast food chains like McDonald’s. This is because the supplier aims at enlightening the consumers on the kind of food they eat from such fast food. The supplier exposes how they handle the production of their products, which is unhealthy and with low-quality products, which has been proven to be true due to the number of complaints from consumers regarding the low quality of food products from McDonald. The aim of the supplier was to expose the truth and enlighten the consumers, hence should not be blamed for tarnishing the image of fast food chains such as McDonalds.

  • Suggest steps to be undertaken by McDonald’s for TQM sustainability.

There are crucial implications in regard to the way individuals manage their business and for restaurants their responsibilities lie on quality, the responsibility as well as the power given to the employees and the way they deal with the consumers. When it comes to McDonald’s, total quality management requires continuous product improvement due to the number of complaints by their consumers. Moreover, quality customer service is required since the wants and the needs of the consumers are crucial to be constantly met especially due to the changing needs of the consumers especially millennial. Thus, the organization should ensure that all their employees are responsible for quality of their products where they should ensure that they excel in their production process as well as their services, which is crucial to the consumers. Therefore, for McDonald, Total Quality Management sustainability should aim at constant quality improvement for the organization’s overall process of activities. Moreover, activities such as quality of goods and training, quality customer…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. Please note the artwork’s identifying traits: title, name of artist, year created, and medium. Here, we are looking at a board game with a fascinating history. The development of the game occurred over many years, until the version we would recognize today took off during the Great Depression. Monopoly

Monopoly, a board game, originated in the United States early 1903 and manifested itself properly around the year 1935 through the Parker Brothers, around the time America was experiencing the great economic depression (Pilon, n.d). The game was developed in a way to reflect how an economy that advocates wealth creation is more beneficial than one which is monopolistic, where people work under a few constraints, which is the preferential of today’s era. Additionally the game was also based on Henry George economic theories particularly on the issues of taxation and women’s rights. The game is named, monopoly, after an economic concept, which involves domination of a market by a single firm or entity. The game is all about making money as well as losing money(Pilon, n.d). The players in the game lay by moving around the game-board buying properties, trading them, collecting rents from other players that is their opponents, as well as developing properties with a main purpose of driving other entities that is players to bankruptcy leaving one entity, monopolist, to control the entire economy.

The development and the popularity of the game, monopoly, came about over many years ago but the familiar version of the game today materialized during the Great Depression in the American history(Pilon, n.d).During the time of the great depression the monopolists benefited by using the weak and income inequalities ruled the states. Politics were also among the vast problems that affected people in that century. Elizabeth Maggie, the woman who made the rules of the monopoly game, reflected the issues that were affecting people in the society early in that century into making the rules of the games(Pilon, n.d). It was extremely popular during the time of great depression, among Americans since people were …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. Why Baseball is America’s Past Time

Baseball has a long history and is considered as the oldest game in America. The game originated in America in 1800s but still has never caught international attention but still remains a notable game in America. In early 1800s the game was locally plated but it was formalized in 1848 by Alexander Cartwright (Szymanski, 2015). When the game was formalized there was racial discrimination and the blacks could not play with the whites and thus was mainly a White’s game. Again at this time the game was just a preserve for the affluent in the society while the rest were not allowed to participate in the activities of the game. This was a disappointment to the Americans as it involved just a few individuals while the rest were locked out. However, the game’s discriminative policy for the poor was withdrawn after the end of World War I. This is after soldiers of the war returned; they had played the game in the boarders and thus encouraged all to be incorporated. This was a relieve to the American people as the game no longer cared about social classes. (Szymanski, 2005)

According to Andrew 2005, p.1, the game was first played by hitting the ball with a bat just as cricket is played. In 1876, National League was formed to incorporate the teams that were involved in the game. The NA still runs the game in USA to date. According to Swank (1992; p.160) something unusual happened when two teams decided to train and reserve players who would play for their teams alone. The idea was later applied by ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

Being Muslim in America: The story of Imane Boudlal

Discriminatory employment practices can be influenced by certain societal factors such as national culture. National cultures varies between countries and have been categorized according to Hofstede’s cultural dimensions such as power distance, uncertainty avoidance, collectivism and individualism, masculinity, indulgence and long-term orientation. Buckley, Halbesleben & Wheeler, (2016, pp. 122) defines power distance as value which differentiates individuals, groups, organizations and nations in regard with the degree to which inequality can be accepted as unavoidable or functional. The extent to which organizations are embedded in culture characterized by high power distance are more prone to instances of gender discriminations. In the case of Imane Boudlal (CAIRtv, 2010), there is a relatively higher power distance embedded within Disney. Since U.S is a country of relatively lower power distance, all people feel an entitlement to certain level of power, and since this is not the case in the organization, it caused feeling of discrimination experienced by Imane.             My opinion regarding the case about the company and Imane, the complainant is right. Although the need to have specific code of uniform should be respected as the organization policy, there is need to ensure this does not violate individual
