Research showed that medical experiment on prisoners started several decades ago and many prisoners have participated in medical research without their consent. For example, in 1946 the Guatemalan prison inmates were used in medical experiment where most of them were deliberately infected with syphilis. Studies showed that male prisoners were directly infected with the disease through direct injection to the penis(Reiter, 2009). Some prisoners were forced to have sex with the prostitutes who were infected with the disease. Some of the prostitutes were purposely infected with the disease in order to infect the prisoners. After sixty years when former president Barack Obama took over the power as the president of the United States, he called on Guatemala’s’ president Alvaro Colom to personally for the abhorrent U.S. government-led research.

What technology do you find most beneficial to use in your work or school setting?
I find computerized and computer devices the most beneficial to use in my work or school setting. This is because the use of computer in nursing and medical field has revolutionized the way medical procedure are conducted. For example, computerized and computer devices have enhanced efficiency in communication between the patient and care givers as well as among the medical professionals. The use of computers in medical field was introduced late 1950s and it gives on improving to an extend of becoming a specialty to improve nursing care and efficiency.
Least beneficial
Although computerized and computer devices are more beneficial in health care, it becomes the least beneficial when it creates an avenue for unauthorized people access confidential information about the users. For example, these devices allow for instant access of information by hackers and can share the information through social media, thus negatively impacting the privacy of the patient. Shared information can go viral in the social media and causes huge financial burden on the organization and suffering to the patient.
