You will develop an all-else-constant strategy

This short paper sets up the assumptions portion of your research that will be used in paper 3. The focus is on “all else constant.” You will develop an all-else-constant strategy.

The two states you will consider for both this assignment and paper 3 are Pennsylvania and Ohio.  THIS PAPER IS TO CONCERN 2020 ONLY.

This assignment involves three elements.

Element 1. Discuss, in general, the all-else-constant concept. Why is it so important to economic analysis?

Element 2. Discuss in general the things that might affect infection rates OTHER THAN state restrictive/non-restrictive policies among states.  Outside sources with citations needed. PLEASE USE FREE SOURCES THAT EVERYONE CAN ACCESS EASILY, DO NOT USE SOURCES THAT REQUIRE SUBSCRIPTIONS OR MONEY.

Element 3. Consider your Element 2 discussion. Describe the steps you might take to satisfy the “all else constant” requirements of your paper 3 analysis for Pennsylvania and Ohio. Choose a few of the factors mentioned in element 2.  You must compare the factors you choose to analyze, based on element 2 and this must be based on research. You are comparing these factors across the two states. These include things that might be similar in the two states and therefore are constant. These need to be listed with reference to the sources you use. In addition, list factors that you have to ASSUME are constant, that you will need caveats for in your paper 3 analysis. Summarize your all-else-constant strategy.

MLA FORMAT FRO IN-TEXT CITATION AND WORK CITED PAGE!

Please delineate your sections with subheadings. As usual, proper citation methodology is mandatory.

PAPER 3 DIRECTIONS:

Part 3, is your analysis. Therefore no citation is required. This is your own original analysis. Here are the elements:

Your states are Pennsylvania and Ohio. Please only analyze 2020

Element 1. Using the Johns Hopkins University data

(copy and paste the links below next to each state to get the information)

 Ohio: https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/data/state-timeline/new-confirmed-cases/ohio

 Pennsylvania: https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/data/state-timeline/new-confirmed-cases/pennsylvania

investigate for possible correlations between state restrictive/non-restrictive policies and infection rates. Look at trends, not just individual data points. You must present explicit data for infections, not just words, and specific policy implementations. Consider that some periods might have different results than others. THERE ARE NO RIGHT OR WRONG ANSWERS as long as the analysis is done thoroughly. There may be a relationship or there may not be. This is strictly positive analysis and must be objective. End this section with your research observations regarding whether or not there is a relationship between policy and infection rates. Element 2. In Paper 2 you listed factors that you held constant BY ASSUMPTION as well as similarities which were truly constant. In this element you will explain how those assumptions, not the actually constant, might bias your results. Might your outcome have been different if you didn’t impose the all else constant assumption. This is essentially a caveat to your results. Element 3. Based solely on your analysis, do you conclude, or not conclude, that the types of policies used by the states can help the economy?

simple pump cylinder circuit. the cylinder must push a constant load of 170,000 N

A ) The figure shows a simple pump cylinder circuit. the cylinder must push a constant load of 170,000 N. The pump provides a real volume flow Qp = 140 l/min. Loss in the directional valve is calculated at 2 bar when the pump and cylinder are connected via this. The safety valve is set at 200 bar. the plant is filled with oil with specific gravity equal to 0.85. effective cylinder area is 100cm2 After the plant was put into operation. It was found that the speed of the cylinder was too great. It was desired that the specified load should be pushed by 0.2 m / s. It was decided that one should weld into the pipe before the cylinder, a fixed, sharp-edged throat piece (as indicated in the figure) in parallel with a non-return valve. 1) Calculate the diameter d of the opening in the larynx so that the load, when pushed, travels at the desired speed. Assume flow coefficient u M = 0.6 2) How much power in kW is lost in total between the points x and y in this circuit (see figure) when the load is pushed out at a constant speed and the choke is in place. B) How much power is lost in a pipeline with an inner diameter equal to 30 mm and a length of 100 m when the oil flow being transported is 0.24 m3 / min. The oil has a kinematic viscosity 1 = 20cSt and a density 3 p= 840kg/m == m ANSWERS: I have the answers to this question. but I just do not know how to solve them. here are the answers: A) 1) 7.23 mm 2) 12.6 kW B) 5.98 kW

Fed held reserve supply constant and that the volatility in the effective federal funds rate originated from the volatility in reserve demand.

a) (10 points for correct and completely labeled diagram)draw a reserve market diagram depicting points A, B, and C. Assume that the Fed held reserve supply constant and that the volatility in the effective federal funds rate originated from the volatility in reserve demand. Note, this is the period before the Fed obtained the authority to pay interest on reserves

b) (10 points) In hindsight the Fed could have done a better job in terms of hitting their federal funds target = 2%.  Explain in words what they should have done to avoid point B and what they should have done differently to avoid point C. Note that we are still in the period before the Fed obtained the authority to pay interest on reserves.

c) (10 points) Draw a reserve market diagram depicting your answer for part b) above. Be sure to label points A, B  and C. Note that we are still in the period before the Fed obtained the authority to pay interest on reserves.

d) (20 points total: 10 points for complete e and correctly labeled diagram and 10 points for explanation) Now let’s pretend that we were in a new regime (as they are now) where the Fed sets the interest rate they pay on reserves at 25 basis points below the federal funds target and the discount rate set 25 basis points above the federal funds target.  In the space below, redraw the reserve market diagram accounting for this new regime.  Make sure you label points A, B, and C under this new and current regime.  Explain in detail as to why the implied (actual) funds rate is different in this new regime relative to the old regime as in 1.a).

The Only Thing Constant Is Change

Discussion: The Only Thing Constant Is Change

In your initial post, identify one current event that you believe is affecting how consumers are making buying decisions. Then, address the following:

Briefly summarize the current event and the specific ways in which it is broadly affecting consumer behavior.

Describe how the current event has specifically affected your own purchasing decisions.

In your replies to at least two peers, describe one data-collection tool that could be used to evaluate the actual impact the current event is having on consumer behavior or preferences. Indicate whether the tool reflects quantitative or qualitative data.

Peer 1

A current event that has affected how consumers are making buying decisions is the ransomware attack on Colonial Pipeline. In May of this year Colonial Pipeline was the target of a cyber attack which caused them to shut down their gasoline pipeline that provided almost half of the east coast’s fuel supply. There was a brief fear that the east coast would run out of gas because one of the main suppliers shut down, and the price of gas on the east cost started to quickly climb. When the public heard the news of what was happening and saw the prices start to go up it caused people to panic and start mass-buying gasoline. This event affected me specifically because I started going out of my way to find gas stations with the lowest price. I would fill up my car if I came across a gas station with a decent price even if I didn’t have to get gas quite yet, or I would push it to the last mile I could until I was forced to fill up. The pipeline is back up and running, but the prices have stayed relatively high.

Peer 2

Hello class, it’s great to be nearing the end of the term. The pandemic is a current event that I believe is affecting how consumers are making buying decisions. In the beginning of 2020, the Covid-19 virus quickly spread throughout the United States. The government began issuing mandatory restrictions and curfews to curb the spread of the virus. Masks became mandatory in most places and social distancing made public shopping difficult and dangerous. The risks involved with physically shopping resulted in people doing more online shopping. Shopping from home reduced the possibility of contracting the virus or coming into contact with another contaminated individual. It became normal to order things and have them delivered. Options such as Door Dash, and curbside pickup from retail stores became a staple during the quarantine life.

My own purchasing decisions have been affected by the pandemic, causing me to buy more items more often, for fear of a shortage or running out. Common household products such as toilet paper and bleach were bought in bulk from a fear of not being able to purchase them later. I also use Amazon more often than before the pandemic. Covid-19 has drastically changed my habits, forcing me to shop more often from home. I appreciate everyone’s time.
