According to Constanza et al. (1997), ecological services is defined as the “benefits provided to humans through the transformation of resources or environmental assets such as land, water, vegetation and atmosphere into the flow of essential goods and services for example, clean water, air and food.” Long before civilization and after civilization, human societies have acknowledged the reliance on the ecological goods and services such as fuel, fibre and food provided by nature. However, with increasing literacy rate and research as well as the dissemination of the information, human societies have shifted the focus to include less tangible ecological services which include soil fertility, water filtration, recreational and cultural services. As a results, there is need to value these ecological services in accordance with management and economical frameworks.
