Islamic Jihadist terrorists emerged from Islam where the followers are radicalized to believe that suicide attacks as way of accepting death for social award, personal and religious gain is acceptable. To understand whether they make deliberate rational choices in their decision-making process, it was imperative to analyze what motivate Islamic Jihadists terrorists in the context of rational choice theory(Perry & Hasisi, 2015). According to the rational choice theory, there are factors that motivate Islamic Jihadists theory to do the horrific acts.
Some of the main motivational factors include rewards and opportunities to them and their families such as fame among Muslim militants, financial rewards to their families and some of the religious ideology that makes them belief there will be a reward after death. Based on these factors, it is evident that these individuals do make deliberate rationalize choice(Siegel, 2018). They clearly understand the motivation behind suicide attacks that there will be a reward upon accomplishing their duties. Several studies have showed that seeking reward from criminal behavior requires the individual to make a rational deliberate choice. Their decision-making process involves weighing advantages and disadvantage and act upon that behavior which leads to making their deliberate rationalized choices.
