Does Implementation of Fall Prevention Programs Reduce Falls

Change can be difficult to implement. Overcoming resistance to fall project implementation

Resistance to implementation of a fall project may be caused by the organizational culture(Dearholt& Dang, 2012).This is especially in a situation where there is no much teamwork, no incentives for good performance or low job satisfaction. A hospital that also starts projects without seeing them through may also lead to skepticism and cynicism(AHRQ, 2013).

Another impediment to the implementation of the fall project may also be lack of knowledge and motivation by the staff(American Nurses Association, 2015). Staff may not know their roles and responsibilities in the fall project, hence not being keen to be involved. The staff may also not appreciate the importance of the project and hence they may not be fully motivated in implementing it. That fall prevention is secondary healthcare may lead to some staff being dismissive of the project.

Staff resistance may also be caused by the increased workload and disrupted workflows (AHRQ, 2013). Staff at most health institutions are overwhelmed by the workload due to inadequate healthcare staff nationally. Such staff may resist extra roles and responsibilities, especially when these are not crucial in providing primary healthcare. The resistance may be enhanced by the fact that most staff have established workflows and hence may not welcome activities that disrupt their day-to-day activities.

Resistance to change may also be caused by lack of adequate resources(American Nurses Association, 2015).Apart from staff lacking time, lack of tangible resources such as new care products and communication tools will cause resistance to implementation of the fall project.

Ways to overcome resistance in the implementation of the fall project include having a champion in the hospital’s senior management (AHRQ, 2013). The change agent should get a champion for the project by presenting to them the business and clinical case for the project. Such a champion will be able to get the rest of the management and staff on board. They are also more likely to contribute to positive change in organizational culture through influence and or directives.

Resistance can also be overcome by constituting a unit to spearhead the changes(Dearholt& Dang, 2012).The unit should be constituted from members representing the various stakeholders involved in implementation of the fall project. These members will be able to communicate to the implementers the importan…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. Balanced Scorecard (BSC) Model in Implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM)

Part A: Literature Review on BSC as an Approach TQM Implementation

Total Quality Management (TQM) is an important tool that allows organizations to enhance the quality of products as well as services offered by the organization in a bid to build on customer satisfaction. TQM involves integrating unified mission and vision of an organization that involves the entire enterprise form the lowest eve to the level of top management. It is a customer oriented approach that involves a systematic change management as well as continuous improvement of processes, products and services. TQM revolves around the combination of all the aspects of an organization into a holistic philosophy that is subject to the concept of quality, teamwork, understanding, customer satisfaction, and productivity (Tejaningrum, 2014). While TQM encapsulates four fundamental principles; customer satisfaction, management subject to facts, respect for each hierarchical rank, and continuous improvement, there are a wide spectrum of principles that are often considered which include; obsession with quality, focus on the customer, long-term commitment, a scientific approach, education and training, team cooperation, unity of purpose, and employee engagement.

Based on the underpinnings of TQM, balanced scorecard (BSC) is a performance management approach that puts emphasis on four main perspectives which are; customer, financial, internal business, and learning and growth. Developed by David Norton and Robert Kaplan (Kaplan & Norton, 1992), BSC maintains the use of financial metrics as the ultimate outcome measures for the success of an organization. However, it supplements these metrics from three other perspectives which are; customer, internal process, and learning and growth (Kaplan, 2010). The financial perspective acts as the reference for the evaluation of performance in BSC. The organization is assessed subject to the financial wellbeing of the organization which can be inferred from the balance sheet as well as profit and loss statement.  The measure used to assess the organization from a financial perspective include; profitability ratio, debt ratio, activity ratio, and liquidity ratio (Tejaningrum, 2014). Profitability ratios involved are net profit margin, gross margin, return on equity rate, and return on assets. Accounts receivable turnover, debt to net worth ratio, inventory turnover, quick ratio, and current ratio, accounts for the ratio of activity.

Kaplan & Norton (1992) postulate that a sound financial performance must be attained with consideration to customer satisfaction levels. Consequently, the financial health of an organization needs to be attributable to high customer satisfaction level. The indicators employed to benchmark performance based on customer satisfaction are: customer satisfaction level, customer retention, market share, customer profitability, and customer acquisition. Kaplan & Norton (1992) further highlights that high levels of customer satisfaction are achieved through a reliable and efficient internal business. The concept of internal business perspective accentuates that the organization must possess the ability to generate continuous improvement. The indicators for a reliable internal business are: improved product performance, decrease in the amount of waste, new products. Reflection on Nursing Curriculum development, Implementation, and Evaluation

As suggested by Tayler, reflection can be a source of freedom, which allows one to adopt own roles and expectations from those of other in order to become a better being. Reflection in nursing is linked with empowerment that gives the nurse practitioner the power, helping them to take actions that are based on insights. The course on nursing curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation that we have undertaken has been invaluable, as it has enabled us to attain knowledge, skills, and attitudes for meeting the course goals. In the paper, a reflection on how the course has been helpful in achievement of the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are necessary in meeting the goals of the course will be provided.

In the course, the knowledge gained in nursing curriculum development has been critical in meeting the goals of the study. The knowledge on the development of nursing education curriculum and the ever-evolving nature of the nursing practice allowed for the examination professional, social and educational issues related to the nursing education. One particular aspect that was integral in the course was learning about the need for curriculum development in nursing education. It led to appreciation of the fact that curriculum development and education in nursing is a continous and creative process, which is intended to produce a unified, evidence-based, and context-relevant curriculum.             Given the increasing need for nurse practitioners to be at the center of the care practice, Al-Ghareeb & Cooper (2016) asserts that nursing is a profession that demands nursing students to gain the required knowledge and skills in the course of their education. According to the authors, nursing knowledge and skills are critical in making judgments and management of complex clinical situations. However, the……………………………………………………………………………………………………

Assessment Task 2 Instructions
Carefully read the following:
Cheryl and Anthony Weber are taking out a construction loan, so they can build their new home. They have found the block of land and they’ve had an initial conversation with two different builders. They have never built it is all new to them. They are happy to receive as much support in the process as possible.
They are both busy with their work and have decided that whichever builder they use, they will get assistance from the building company to assist with project management.
The land is going to cost $200 000 and the build will cost $250 000. They have a deposit of $180 000 which is partly from savings and assisted by a non-repayable parental gift.
They are confident they can afford the repayments as they will be only slightly dearer than their current rental costs.
Their loan application for an ANZ Residential Investment Land Loan with Breakfree discounts has been submitted, and they are coming to a meeting with you to look at what happens next.
They already have a plan for the building and have submitted a Development Application to the council.

It is four months later, and the house has been completed. The clients will be moving in over the next weekend.
You receive the following email from the clients Hi Mortgage Broker.
Thank you for all your help during the construction of our investment property. We couldn’t have done it without you.
I have one concern, which I am sure that you can clear up. Now that the house has been built and everyone has been paid their fees, I am not sure that we are paying the lowest possible rate. Can we change our loan over to another one with the same lender now?
Please check that and come back to me with any suggestions. Regards,
Mr. and Mrs. Weber

Calculate what those monthly repayments would be and compare this to the repayments that the client has.
15. Send an email to the client (your assessor).
The text of the email should be in grammatically correct English, written in an appropriate (polite, business-like) style.
The text of the email should give them the information that they have requested
