Write 2 pages with APA style on North American Indian Culture That Flourished before the Arrival of the Spanish Conquistadors.
One of the key characteristics of Native Americans is their unique genealogy, which derives from African and Asian populations. . Although this connection is not the most intuitive, anthropological studies using genetic markers have substantiated this understanding. . In the late medieval period, they were believed to have adopted a hunter-gatherer mode of life. . It is an important revelation, for everywhere else in the world agriculture and urbanization has already become entrenched. . Bison was a great stock prey during the time as the ecology of the Great Plains suited it well. In many of the cave paintings from this period, we can see how bison was an emblematic animal for the entire community.
The breadth and width of the continent’s landscape, with its varied climates, geographies and ecologies, made adapting to local conditions an imperative. As a result, we see a different set of customs and norms being practiced in the Great Basin, Pacific Coast or Eastern Woodlands. . Likewise, in contrast to the widespread adoption of the hunter-gatherer lifestyle, native Indian cultures of South-western and Woodland Burial Mound regions practised agriculture. The social organization of these regions was also different, in that they were chiefdoms, with a definite hierarchy among its members. .
Just as Spanish Conquistadors started trickling into the continent in the late 15th century, the Meso-American culture became predominant. . This unique culture retained many key traits of the community’s traditions while also including new elements that they were introduced to. . It is an unfortunate fact of history that despite the amicable and warm welcome of the conquistadors by native Americans, the former did not reciprocate the hospitality. . After having acquainted themselves with the exotic culture of the natives, the conquistadors systematically proceeded to dominate the defenceless natives. . Those who had the courage to resist domination and exploitation were ruthlessly rounded up and executed. As a consequence, within a few decades of the arrival of the Spanish expeditions, the Native American population diminished drastically. . This pattern has continued for a century or more and reached a point of near-extermination of these people. . It continues to remain one of the greatest acts of genocide in the history of humanity. . It is all the more tragic because the culture and social values of the victims were very rich and vibrant. . The proof for this assertion lies in the great colour and wisdom of their customs, practices and norms witnessed at the time of the arrival of the Spanish expeditions. . Their lives during this period were far from barbaric as the perpetrators of their oppression would have us believe.

During the 18th century (1701- Britain dominated European politics. Most of these wars dealt with European issues, such as who would be the next monarch to succeed to the throne. Although mainly fought in Europe, each of the wars had a North American connection. The French and Indian War was different. It began in the backcountry of Pennsylvania. The war eventually spread to Europe and other places throughout the world, including the Caribbean, West Africa, India, and the Philippines. In the sense that it was fought on four of the continents, it was the first world war. It demonstrated the increasing importance of North America to European politics. Young George Washington played a key role in the events leading up to the French and Indian War. His fame as a military leader began with his bravery in several important campaigns during this war.
1) How does the outcome of the French and Indian War influence colonial power in North America? Britain won the French and Indian war. In the Treaty of Paris (1763) the French ceded much of its North American territory to Britain. This included French land in present day Canada and the states of Michigan down to Florida. This made Britain the dominant power in North America.
2) How does the relationship between the Iroquois Nation and the British affect British policy in North America?
The triumph of British in the French and Indian War had a significant impact on the colonial power in North America. The first impact was the expansion of British territory in North America. The French ceded many of its territories in North America including the states of Michigan down to Florida as well as some parts in Canada(Griffith IV, 2020). Despite the gain in colonial territory by the British, the war had also increased the Britain’s debt. This led to significant resentment among the English leaders towards colonists, who were dissatisfied with the financial and military help.
These substantial changes made the British leaders to reach an agreement that London should be the central control over the government of the colonies. This could eventually lead to resentment towards British imperial policies and subsequently resulted into American Revolution(Griffith IV, 2020). The other significant impact was that the colonists appreciated the importance of working together to overcome a common foe. Prior to war, the three colonies in North America could not see eye to eye, lacked common ground and they lived in mutual distrust.
Question two
The objectives of British policies towards Iroquois Nation were to recruit and supply native military allies, regulate the trade and diplomacy, and protect native people’s territorial integrity. The relationship between Iroquois Nation and British changed to give edge British Colony over the rival French(Puals, 2020). Analysis of these policies indicated that British needed the help of the Iroquois Nation to thwart the expansion of French territories(Encyclopaedia, 2020). It is evident that British ceded ground and enter into agreement with the natives to fought French and stop their advances.

The Cherokee Indians were one of the largest and most powerful tribe that originally moved from the Great lakes region to the southern part of the Appalachian Mountains. Most of them lived in a huge area which is now distributed among the states of Northern Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, Kentucky, Alabama, Northern Alabama, West Florida and Mississippi. Apart from Hunting and farming, the Cherokee people were also known for their taste of fashion which was mostly unique from other Native American Indians (Nationalclothing, 2019). They knew how to dress for each occasion and different attire was a symbol of age, leadership, achievement or position in the society.
Central Idea: This paper discusses the Cherokee indian Wardrobe. The paper looks at the unique dressing of this indian Tribe which has been there for centuries. The main idea is to look at the history of the tribe and cultural representation of the dress Body Topic 1 Looks at how men used to dress Body Topic 2 Looks at how women used to dress Body Topic 3 Looks at significance of the dressing, for different seasons including dressing for work.
Studies have showed that all Cherokee male adults were breechclout which was made from deerskin. It was the first cloth to put on and the last to be removed. Breechclout was approximately 12 to 18 inches wide and about a yard or more long(Carr, 2017). This means that men held it with belt fastened around the waist. In the front and the back, breechclout was left to hand thus forming appearing like two aprons. Some breechclout was decorated at the end with either sinew embroidery or quill or with fringe which was formed by cutting the ends of the breechclout.
During travel, Cherokee men usually wore full-length buckskin legging which were attached to their belt. Sometimes the leggings were tied to garters below the knees and occasionally worn over the bare legs(Cochran, 2020). Over the shoulders, Cherokee men wore untailored mantles or robes especially during the winter. The robes were specifically made from either a patchworked piece of several smaller animal hide or a whole buffalo hide.
For ceremony, Cherokee men wore feather robes that were woven of bark fiber, decorated with either painting or embroidery. The robes were usually worn under the left arm and knotted on the right shoulder, but occasionally robes could be worn to cover both shoulders(Carr, 2017). During games and in war Cherokee men ordinary removed the breechclout and moccasins to avoid hinderance by unnecessary items. Further literature showed that a chief would be clothed in a gold-dyed buckskin shirt and leggings with a matching golden feather headdress during a ritual dance.
Women’s clothing Literature showed that just like a modern society, Cherokee would distinguish sexes using clothing. Although Cherokee women garment was similar to that of men’s breechclout, it was wrap-around skirt that stretched from their waist to their knees(Carr, 2017). The breechclout for Cherokee women were made from either woven bison hair, woven…………………………………………………………………………………………………
