It is also reported that a higher prevalence of fatigue is observed among people aged 65 years and older (Stadje et al., 2016). Stern, Cifu and Altkorn (2010), point that the differential diagnosis of fatigue is broad and can be considered on the basis of organ approach. Among the differential diagnoses of fatigue include anxiety, stress, depression, insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea, narcolepsy, diabetes, thyroid disease, cancer, anemia, and chronic infectious diseases.

            Based on physical examination that reveals pallor in the nail beds and tongue and mild tachycardia, it is possible that the patient suffers from iron deficiency form of anemia. The diagnosis of anemia is confirmed by many of the symptoms presented. Pallor in skin or nail beds is an indication of low hemoglobin in blood, which is responsible for anemia (Kalantri, Karambelkar, Joshi, Kalantri & Jajoo, 2010). In addition, tachycardia is indicative of high heart rate and indication that the heart is beating fast to fill with blood, possibly due to low blood count.
