Explore the integumentary and skeletal systems

As a future medical professional, you have to understand and be able to identify all the parts of your body. This includes the hair, skin, nails, and bones. In this discussion, you will begin to explore the integumentary and skeletal systems, and take a stance on which elements of these systems, from your perspective, are most important to understand. How would you use this knowledge to educate and improve the health of the clients in your care?

Instructions
Post a response of at least 300 words in the discussion that includes the following information:

Describe the layers of the skin and the function of each layer. Which specific function of the skin benefits the skeletal system? Explain your answer.

Why are melanin and keratin important?

Why is it important to know the names of bones, their locations, and their surface features? Support your answer with two specific examples.

Now go beyond naming bones and their location and refer to Graph 6.23 in your textbook. How would you incorporate this information to educate and potentially improve the health of a female client in your care?
Post your explanations in text, pictures, diagrams, or any way you think would best help a patient understand the system.

The primary function of the skin is to provide protection to the entire body. The skin consists of several layers that play different roles in the provision of this overall protection.  The first layer of the skin is the epidermis. This layer consists of four sub-layers within it. These include stratum cornuem, stratum granulosum, stratum spinosum and stratum basale from outside respectively. The cells manufacture keratin that is responsible for strengthening the skin and offering the necessary protection to the inner parts of the skin and the entire body (Betts et al, 2017).  The second layer is the Dermis layer. This layer is made up of two sub layers namely the papillary layer and the reticular layer. The papillary layer comprises of areola and loose connective tissues in which the elastin fibers and collagen create a mess. The major function of this layer is to prevent the intrusion and fight disease causing organisms from entering into the body (Betts et al, 2017). The reticular layer is supplied with nerves to create sensitivity within the skin.  Its elastin fibers further provide elasticity to the skin. Lastly, the hypodermis layer is referred to as the subcutaneous layer. This layer connects entire skin to underling muscle tissues and the bones. This layer stores fat which forms a cushion for the entire integument.

Several functions of the skin above benefit and support the skeletal system. It is imperative to note that the major………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….  integumentary and skeletal systems ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
