Social Structures of accumulation

Social structure of accumulation is an approach that provides a framework in which developments as well as structures of capitalist societies and economies can be analyzed. The Social structure of accumulation comprises of a complex set of institutions that work together to support capital accumulation process (Houston & David, 1992). While the social structure of accumulation promotes and sustains economic growth and stability for a given period of time, such structure eventually disintegrates after that period of time. What follows then is a period instability and stagnation until such a time when a new social structure of accumulation is put in place. This alternating seasons between economic stability and instability, growth and stagnation is what is referred to as the Long Wings. The long wings can therefore be attributed to institutional changes that are not consistent and continuous.

Social structure of accumulation and the notion of long swings are more than mere business cycles in the sense that its main focus is on institutional arrangements capable of sustaining long swings and not just market and economic factors that bring about business cycles. Long swings comes mainly as a result of institutional changes …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. Analysis have showed that internally consistent compensation systems constitute a concise definition of relative value of each job among all jobs within a company. To achieve this, organization uses a simple, yet very fundamental principle for building internally consistent compensation systems.

What are some of the challenges to this goal?

In addition, internally consistent compensation system enables the organization to create formally structured job description by analyzing job. But this can also make organization to enter into problems by paying higher wages to retain competitive advantage in the market(Martocchio, 2014). For the organization to retain competitive in the market, it should develop and implement market-competitive pay system. This is a very challenging for some companies since they pay high competition than the counterparts.

What are some compensation strategies organizations can use to attract and retain top talent?            Analysis have showed that successful compensation strategies constitute high paid salary, comprehensive incentives and the over the top popular nonconventional benefits.
