Use role theory to apply to your chosen case study. In other words, your theoretical orientation—or lens—is role theory as you analyze the case study.
Use the same case study that you chose in Week 2. (Remember, you will be using this same case study throughout the entire course). Use the “Dissecting a Theory and Its Application to a Case Study” worksheet to help you dissect the theory. You do not need to submit this handout. It is a tool for you to use to dissect the theory, and then you can employ the information in the table to complete your assignment.
To prepare:
Review and focus on the same case study that you used in Week 2.
Review the websites and guides for developing PowerPoint skills found in the Learning Resources.
Record presentation using CaptureSpace.
BY DAY 7
Submit a narrated PowerPoint presentation using Kaltura Media that includes 11 to 12 slides.
Each slide should be written using bullet points, meaning no long paragraphs of written text should be in the slides.
Include a brief narration of less than 30 seconds for each slide (i.e., the narration takes the place of any written paragraphs, while the bullet points provide context and cues for the audience to follow along).
Your presentation should address the following:
Identify the presenting problem for the case study you selected. (Remember the presenting problem has to be framed from the perspective of role theory. For example, the presenting problem can be framed within the context of role functioning).
Identify all the relevant roles assumed by the client.
Analyze the social expectations and social and cultural norms revolving around the role, social position, and role scripts of one of the roles assumed by the client.
Explain the role and social position of the social worker in working with the client in the case study.
Describe how the role(s) and social position(s) assumed by the social worker will influence the relationship between the social worker and the client.
Identify three assessment questions that are guided by role theory that you will ask the client to better understand the problem.
Identify and describe two interventions that are aligned with the presenting problem and role theory.
Identify one outcome that you would measure if you were to evaluate one of the interventions you would implement to determine if the intervention is effective.
Evaluate one advantage and one limitation in using role theory in understanding the case.
Be sure to:
Identify and correctly reference the case study you have chosen.

The rationale behind DFs is to generate discussion among your classmates that would typically occur during group activities or class discussions held on-campus in honors classes. Thus, students are expected to submit four of the five main posts and reply to at least two peer posts for the four weeks they choose to participate. Main posts should be about 250+ words while peer responses are required to have a minimum of five complete sentences. At the bottom of every DF post (i.e., main posts and peer responses), state your word count.
1. Select ONE DF option and post your response below.
· Your main DF Post should be at least 3 paragraphs in length (250-words minimum).
· Students may exceed the minimum word count; however, aim to write succinctly.
· Answer your chosen prompt thoroughly, using the assigned readings to substantiate your arguments.
· Be sure to indicate which option you chose by writing the option number and option title.
· Your two Peer Response Posts should be at least five sentences—for each Peer Response.
· Include a word count at the end of your main post and for your two Peer Response posts.
· Note: There are several steps to complete your chosen DF option for this DF; therefore, please make sure to review your main post before you submit it.
Option #1: Routines Activity Theory
Overview: This option will allow you to explore factors that are associated with Routines Activity Theory.
According to Routine Activities Theory, victimization occurs due to the following reasons:
1. The availability of suitable targets, such as an unlocked car;
2. The absence of capable guardians, such as a corner of a store without any cameras;
3. And, finally, the presence of motivated offenders, such as an experienced burglar or shoplifter in the need of cash or items (Siegel 2011).
Moreover, out in the real world, you can see this theory actualized throughout the many public places we visit and experience on a daily basis.
Task #1 Instructions:
1. Throughout this week, try to keep an eye out for two of the three factors needed for victimization to occur: The availability of suitable targets and the absence of capable guardians. When you notice these concepts from Routine Activities Theory occurring, take a quick picture if possible (always avoid it if it could possibly lead to you getting in trouble or put you in a dangerous situation). Alternatively, you may also conduct virtual research and find the images online. However, please make sure the images are not obscene or vulgar.
2. Regardless if you take your own photos or find them online, attach the photos to your main post by embedding them in your main post.
3. Create a main post describing what you saw and explain how it is an example Routine Activities Theory. You must include the terms suitable target and capable guardians in your main post. These terms should be applied correctly based on our course material. Include your photos for these two concepts in your main post.
4. Although I am not having you find images for motivated offenders because there is an element of assumption here, you should still define what this concept means and briefly describe predatory behaviors that would elicit a motivated offender.
5. Define victimology and describe who was victimized in your chosen Routine Activities Theory photo example.
Note: Due to the sensitive topics of rape, sexual assault, and other forms of victimization, if you are sensitive to said topics, then I encourage you to select Option #1 instead or skip this week’s discussion (if you have a free skip).
Overview: Select one theory from the victimology chapter of your choice and research one recent example.
Task #1 Instructions: Locate a recent news story that relates to one of the theories covered in chapter 3 in some way and write a main post in which you apply and define two concepts and one theory from chapter 3 to the news article under investigation.
Tips
1. Be sure to type-up your all your work on a separate Word document or Google Docs document and save your work periodically. Doing so will save you from losing your work due to technological failures or accidents.
2. “A” students always substantiate their arguments using the course readings, lecture notes, chosen prompt materials, and the like by proper citing using either ASA, APA, MLA, Chicago Style, MLA, etcetera.
3. Make sure to use proper grammar and punctuation in this honors-level course in all correspondence. Please avoid “text” or “Internet lingo” when corresponding.
4. Students have the option to skip one week of the DFs of their choice.
5. If you plan on completing this week’s DF, then you must also write two Peer Responses.
6. If you plan on skipping it, then simply reply “skip” in this DF thread.

The Scientific Method and Statistical Reasoning: What misconceptions often rise around the idea of a scientific “theory
Using the tools of the scientific method and understanding statistical reasoning can strengthen our critical thinking. Answer these two questions to explore these issues:
What misconceptions often rise around the idea of a scientific “theory”? What are the characteristics of good scientific theories?
Where have you seen statistical data (or charts or graphs) used in a way that obscures critical thinking? Describe the issues and how you might correct these.

The purpose of this theory is that it accentuates the intricacy and interaction of the symptoms bringing out their interrelationships. The main purpose is ensuring that the factors that affect the symptoms, the results and the repercussions are brought to the fore to facilitate the preparation of nursing interventions in pediatric oncology. It ensures that the symptoms clusters are testable in an empirical resulting in pragmatic adequacy (Lee, Vincent, & Finnegan, 2017).
Q-2
It brings out a more detailed way of experiencing cancer symptoms iteratively. It provides more examples in demonstrating the implications of the symptoms in a revised manner, and its application in practice. A more revised way of this theory describes the interactions of the symptoms encouraging successful breastfeeding as a result of a multifaceted intervention.
Q-3)
This theory was introduced in 1995, and it adds to the existing information concerning a variety of symptoms. It incorporates three major facets: the symptoms that a patient is portraying, factors that influence them, and, factors that gives rise to that type of symptoms and the effects of the symptom experience. Every symptom is dealt with in a multidimensional familiarity and can be measured with the others, or they can be measured independently(Lee, Vincent, & Finnegan, 2017).
Q-4)
It is presented so that the nurses can understand that physiological, psychological and situational factors are capable of influencing multiple symptoms. This can in turn influence the performance of the individual. At the same time, the nurses should realize that the performance results can loopback to impact the symptom experience itself; it can as well alter the influencing factors. Thus, the nurses should understand that this theory can be applied in a different setting in understanding the symptoms affecting the patients, even though particular nursing interventions are presently lacking in theory(Lee, Vincent, & Finnegan, 2017).
Q-5)
The theory gives nurses a way of dealing with the new cluster of symptoms as it proposes non-pharmacological mediations symptom management and measurement. It makes them combine clinical practices with theory, and it facilitates the exploration of the science of nursing plus its respective theories.
Q-6)
The primary assumption is that there are interrelationships that exist among various symptoms that are presented by this theory is daunting. In case the symptoms are surveyed in their totality, the nursing interventions are thus created from the interactive nature of symptoms, the interventions thus are specific and can be personalized for every patient, and they can be termed effective.

Assignment details: Researchers often identify the research problem and then go in search of a theory. Discuss the disadvantages of doing this. What does the textbook recommend that researchers do to assure a true fit between theory and designing the study?
The research that is theory driven and supports theory building as the main objectives in the research is normally refers to deductive. The disadvantages of this kind of research design is that it starts with a fully developed framework. This means that the information that does not fit within the framework of the research is thrown out as irrelevant(Pannucci, & Wilkins, 2010). Therefore, the results obtained from this kind of research design can be myopically, thus considered as the science that resists model change. This type of research design follows specific procedures and assumptions described in the theory.
In the text book, sampling procedure was randomized in order to minimize sampling bias. This was achieved through randomization of the treatment conditions. The study also focuses on the issues concerning data collection which is nuance to many researchers. Generally, quantitative data collection does not capture this problem. The study addressed these issues by conducting survey of the patient’s perceptions, thus making the theory to fit the research design. If the research uses an open-ended questions as opposed to closed-end question, the method could be a mixed resign design(Pannucci, & Wilkins, 2010). However, it is important to note that research objectives should be tied with the creation of quantitative data which allows for the comparisons that relates with time-based metrics.
During data collection from patients, it is important to…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
Prior to beginning work on this discussion, read Chapters 1 and 2 of the Hesse-Biber e-book, Mixed Methods Research: Merging Theory with Practice, and the two required articles for this week. Mixed methods is a current popular methodology. While this type of methodology is useful for some studies, because of its dual nature as both quantitative and qualitative, it is not effective or appropriate for all research.
For this discussion, you will consider the use of mixed methods for the topic you have chosen for your Research Proposal. In your initial post, apply the scientific method to your research topic by defining your research question and determining the method(s) necessary to answer that question. Compare the characteristics and appropriate uses of the different methods and explain if your research question could best be answered through qualitative or quantitative methods, or a mix of both. Identify the dominant method (quantitative or qualitative) for your proposed study. Explain whether or not a mixed methods approach is the best way to study the topic, demonstrating that the second method is not added as an afterthought or merely to impress journal editors who favor mixed methods. If you have decided not to use mixed methods, explain why the study is best completed with either a quantitative or qualitative focus. Justify your design choice and support your position with scholarly sources. Include a discussion explaining how you would apply ethical principles to your design to address concerns which may impact your research.
For this discussion, I considered the use of mixed methods for my chosen topic of social psychological science. The research question that this study attempted to addressed was “How does studying social psychology as a science prove beneficial to the clinical context? Considering that mixed methods involves the use of quantitative and qualitative, I believe it is the appropriate approach to accurately answer my research question(Hesse-Biber, 2010). Studies indicated that mixed methods enable the researchers to analytically and conceptually integrate qualitative research and qualitative data such as focus groups, observations and semi-structured interviews, with quantitative methods of research and traditional epidemiological to facilitate translation.
I think the most dominant method would be qualitative because the study will require the use of first-hand questionnaire and interviews. At the start of the study, I could say that quantitative results played the leading role in the qualitative design. However, I strongly believe that mixed method would be the best approach to study the topic of social psychological science(Wisdom, et al., 2012). I am of the view that mixed method follows a set of stairs, where quantitative method is first considered, followed by qualitative methods and lastly settling on mixed method when the study will involve the use of both quantitative and qualitative methods. The key ethical principle that must be considered in the study is the signing of informed consent by all patients taking part in the study of social psychological sciences. This is an indication that they understand their protections, privileges and their rights(American Psychological Association, 2010). This study will adhere………………………………………………………………………………………………
Topic: Human capital theory has been advanced as a rationale underlying seniority pay. Merit pay plans appear to be the most common form of compensation in the United States. Although widely used, these systems are not suitable for all kinds of jobs. Pay-for-knowledge pay is becoming more prevalent in organizations today. However, pay-for knowledge pay programs are not always an appropriate basis for compensation. Discuss the conditions under which, and provide examples for, ideal positions for each base of pay. In your discussion also provide examples of positions which would not be a good fit for each base of pay as well. Be sure to provide your rationale. Cite at least two outside sources as references in support of your initial response.
Human capital theory is a theory which analyzes earnings. It is concerned with understanding and occurrences that small scale business owners undergo. It is a unique rationale from other forms as companies requires them to develop and achieve their set goals. Amadu K.(2013) quotes from Berzina (2011) and Hesli and Lee (2011)that ”Human capital theory addresses any contextual attributes that can influence personal research skills and training and also that it is stock of enterprise accumulated by workers-knowing how to do something; it is valued for its income earning in the future”. This form emphasizes both training and formal schooling for productivity.
Merit Pay plan is a type of pay in relation to their performances.Employees are expected to hit the target or effective performance of their job for them to receive bonuses over a certain period of time.Merit pay plans are given to employees on the basis of their contribution to the company (Corpuz, 2006). This type may be implemented in school levels.Merit pay according to Bruce K.(1984), may be vital if a school is using a sound decision making process for its administrators. Also, a realistic administrative salary is scheduled and by doing so, the system will not be difficult. Pay for knowledge pay program is a system in which employees are paid based on their academic attainments and level of skills. The more skillful a worker will be the more the pay.Richard L.(2007) states that in this form rates changes from entry level to lead operators. It focuses on worker’s ability to improve their education to increase their salaries. Some companies encourage workers to train and study more. This type encourages personal growth amongst the workers which will eventually result in performance in………………………………………………………………………………………………

The nursing theory that I chose for this assignment is the deliberative process nursing process theory. I chose this theory because it addresses the fundamental nursing concept of nurse patient relationship. How a nurse relates and communicates to his or her patient largely defines how effective they are in delivering patient centered care. Available evidence suggests that such patient centered care is critical in promoting recovery and well being of the patient (Tk & Chandran, 2017). Therefore, this theory provides a framework under which nurses can improve their relationship and collaboration with their patients and consequently provide care that is patient centered.
The deliberative nursing process theory is based on the argument that patients have their personal meaning they assign to events, feelings and situations. Therefore, it is important for the nurse to validate their own assumptions, inferences as well as conclusions with their patients. In this theory, Ida Jean Orlando suggests the interrelationship between the nurses and their patients. The action of either of them has an impact on the other (Tk & Chandran, 2017). This theory involves five interactional concepts namely professional nursing functions, presenting behavior, reaction, process discipline for nursing and continuous improvement. The organizing principle within this framework is the professional nursing function. Presenting behavior refers to the actual problematic situation that the patient is facing (Tk & Chandran, 2017). Immediate reaction refers to the actual internal response. Nursing process discipline relates to the procedure of investigating the needs of the patients. Improvement is resolving patient’s situation. This theory further outlines the deliberate nursing process as a five stage process. The stages include assessment, patient diagnosis, care planning, implementation of nursing plan and an evaluation of the success of the plan (Estupinan, Lord, Crumblish & Risher, 2018).
There are four major interrelated concepts that are central to nursing theories and which collectively make up the nursing metaparadigm. These include person, health, environment and nursing (Lee & Fawcett, 2012). The deliberative nursing process theory addresses itself to each of these concepts. To begin with, the concept of person refers to the individual, their family or community who are primary recipients of nursing care (Lee & Fawcett, 2012). The theory of deliberative nursing concept of person through outlining the process of assessment to determine the care needs of the individual patient. Environment refers to the surrounds of a patient including their physical surroundings as well as the people around them. This theory addresses itself to the concept of environment equally through the assessment of the impact of the patient’s environment on her presenting behavior and overall healing process (Tk & Chandran, 2017). The theory further addresses the concept of health through the diagnosis step as well as the implementation of the care plant that addresses the patient’s situation and presenting behavior while improving their health. Lastly, this theory addresses the concept of nursing through its emphasis on the process discipline for nurses.
This nursing theory is useful to the nursing process for several reasons. First, it outlines a framework for collaboration between the nurse and the patient (Estupinan, Lord, Crumblish & Risher, 2018). This enables the nurse to offer patient centered care. Secondly, it outlines an effective process through which nurses can offer care to the patients. The five stage process is instrumental in offering effective nursing care that is tailored to the needs of each patient. This theory further finds application in MSN particularly within the healthcare policy specialty. The theory will inform the formulation of policies that encourage patient participation in health care delivery. Healthcare policy makers
