You measured the diameter, d, of the pendulum bob using a ruler and a digital caliper

Here is all Lab Report :

1. “You measured the diameter, d, of the pendulum bob using a ruler and a digital caliper. List all of the diameters of the bob as measured by both instruments. Determine the range of measured values for both instruments by calculating the difference between the maximum and minimum recorded values for the group. Compare the relative sizes of these two ranges and draw a conclusion about the precision of these two methods of measuring d. Repeat this analysis for the measurements of the thickness of the 100 gram mass.Compare the size of the range of ruler measurements of the pendulum bob diameter to the size of the range of ruler measurements of the thickness of the 100 g mass. If one is much larger than the other, which is it and why is it so much larger?

2. For the group of measurements of T in V-2(B), calculate T, vTand vT . vTis the standard deviation of the calculated values for T and vTis the standard deviation of the mean. Report T = T ± vT.

3. For each value of m used in V-4, you recorded three values of xm. Using x0 from posi-tion 2 in Figure M0-2, determine the three values of x for each value of m. Tabulate m, xm and x. Plot m vs. x. Whenever plotting a linear relation, be sure to include a trendline and the equation of the trendline in the plot. You should plot all three calculated values of x as a single set of data on one plot. Using LINEST in Excel, calculate the slope s, uncertainty in the slope vs, the intercept b and the uncertainty in the intercept vb. Report the slope and the intercept as s ±vs and b ±vb. From these, determine and report k ±vk.

4. Using one of the measurements of xo with a deliberate parallax error (e.g., posi-tion 1 or position 3 in Figure M0-2), recalculate all of your values of x. With these new values of x and using LINEST, recalculate the slope and intercept of the data. Tabulate m, xm and the recalculated values of x. Compare the value of the slope calculated with these data to the slope calculated in VI-3. Recalculate and report k ±vk. Compare the value for k determined in VI-3 with the value for k determined in VI-4″

Google Inc. overview

Google (Google Inc.) is a Delaware corporation founded by Larry Page andSergey Brinin 1998 with its headquarters located at Mountain View, California. Initially, Google was mainly an internet search engine technology provider, but the corporation has expanded its services to include several collection of products and services(Ryan, 2012). The name Google originated from a misspelled googol which is a mathematical term that refers to 1 and followed by 100 zeros. The founders found the term appealing because it aligned with the company’s mission which is “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful”. Sun Microsystems funded the development of Google at the cost of $100,000. The primary objective of Brin and Page, the founders of Google was to create a giant internet engine.

Currently, Google has been the better internet search engine because it provide quality service better that its competitors such as Yahoo. By 2000, Google had gained international attention because users were able to search information from 15 different language. This also followed the release of Google toolbar in late 2000. The then board chairman Eric Schmidt joined Google team in March 2001, when the company entered into a partnership with Apple Inc. As part of growth, Google released Adwords in 2002, which introduced a new pricing cost per click for advertising(Latif, Hassan, Latif, Ras………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

This analysis selected a serial killer of late sixties and throughout seventies, Ted Bundy who was connected to at least thirty-six count of murder in the United States. Ted Bundy confessed to have killed thirty women in seven states and was later sentenced to death and subsequently executed using electric chair on 24 January, 1989. The general appearance of the serial killer was an interesting, smart and attracting man. He used these traits to lore young women who were the most victims. Several studies conducted to determine the factors that motivated Ted Bundy to be serial killer pointed out to his unbalanced upbringing as a youth affected his later life. Most of the researcher used process perspective.

For example, Ted Bundy was born in Burlington, Vermont in 1946 to Eleanor Louise Cowell and Air Force father and was named Theodore Robert Cowell. Ted was brought up in a middle-class family with the mother being the majority parent due to the nurture of the work of his father. Ted Bundy spend most of his young life with mentally challenged grandfather and at some point, he considered his parents as parent figures and his mother as his sister(Reid, 2017). Due to persistent of this fantasy, Ted Bundy internalized it and this could be the start of the problem. Most of the people who interacted with Ted Bundy in his childhood knew him as perfect gentleman. As oppose to many his colleague who perfectly fitted in a while-collar job, Ted Bundy chose the path that eventually lead to downfall.

Data Analysis: Descriptive Statistics and Assumption Testing

Statistics involves the process of collection, analysis, interpretation, presentation, and data organization in a way that can be understood by its users. Statistical analyses are divided into two broad categories: the inferential and descriptive statistics (Verma & Abdel-Salam, 2019). Descriptive statistics consists of the methods of data representation that calculates descriptive figures and summary graphs or both. The Sun Coast Remediation data was analyzed and presented using descriptive statistics with the interpretations to ascertain whether parametric statistical procedures were met.

Measurement scale

The frequency distribution tables provide a means of ascertaining the measurement scales in which the data was measured.  An analysis of the variables used in data (sick days) revealed that the measurement scale used is ratio scale. Argyrols (2011) points out that a ratio scale uses units that measure equal distance between values on the scale with unique zero.  The variables used indicate sick days with an interval of 1 and with a unique zero as a starting point since there can be zero sick days.

Measure of central tendency

The measures of central tendency are a summary statistic that provides center point of a data set (Argyrous, 2011). The measures of central tendency used in the descriptive statistics for Sun Coast Remediation data are mean, mode, and media. These measures provide the mid-point in which the sick days are dispersed and this can be deduced from the histogram as the mid-point from which the data sets are dispersed.

Evaluation

The assumptions for parametric assumptions can be ascertained if it were met by checking the histogram curve and the centrality of the distribution of the data. First, the measures of central tendency must be same. In the descriptive statistics, the mean, mode, and median are all same (7). Secondly, observing the histogram shows that the data is evenly distributed with no outliers. Lastly, the observed values for skewness and kurtosis are 0.142249784 and 0.124922603, which are all closer to zero. The general assumption is that the closer the values of skewness and kurtosis to zero, parametric statistical testing can be evaluated using such data. Therefore, the descriptive statistics above met the requirements of parametric assumptions.

Psychology: Understanding Pat Using Social Psychology Research

Developmental History of Pat: Pat reports that there were no complications, to her knowledge, with her mother’s pregnancy or delivery. Pat was born after a traditional full-term gestation. However, she said, “The doctor said nothing went wrong with my delivery, but from the beginning  there was something wrong with my leg. I did not walk on my own until I was 3 because of what they called ‘under-developed legs.’ I had orthotics and a lot of rehab therapy, and now I am fine with my legs.” Pat reported that her mom told her she stayed in her crib because of her walking difficulties.  When she got the orthotics she walked awkwardly so she often just sat in the middle of the room instead of exploring her surroundings. Pat spoke her first words by age 1 and began forming sentences by age 2. She was potty-trained at the age of 4. As Pat is telling you about her developmental history, she pauses and says, “You know, we never talked about how I got along with my family. I was never close to anyone in my family.  My dad left when I was 7, and he was just never there for me. My mom tried, but she was always working and then she got sick, and she was never there for me either. My siblings bolted the house as soon as they turned 16, and I have never been close to them either. My mom and dad fought a lot before he left, and I think us kids all were scared of them a bit.” Health Information: Pat denied having had surgery or allergies. However, she said, “I’ll probably die from smoking. I have smoked a pack a day since I was 13.” When asked whether she has previously been hospitalized, Pat said, “I have. I do not want to talk about it yet. As I get to know you, maybe we can go there.  All I will tell you now is that I was in the hospital several times, and the last one was when I was 31. I do not think my health is relevant.” As you progress through the week, reflect on the introductory information you have a bout Pat and ponder what her attachments with others throughout her life may be like

Application of Cognitive Dissonance Research to Pat’s Case

Human beings are social beings and they live by interacting with their friends, relatives and workmates. However, the individuals in the social group can easily influence an individual behavior, beliefs and attitudes (Myers, 2014) . The idea of social influence can result in conformity or reactance. The cognitive dissonance, explains the situation where an individual attitudes, behaviors and beliefs are in conflict. When an individual experiences such a situation, one is motivated to reduce the effects of dissonance, by changing his/her cognitions. Pat’s case provides a unique situation, in which her interaction with the environment has played in shaping her behaviour, which can be explained using the cognitive dissonance.

Cognitive Dissonance and Pat’s Case

Firstly, Pat beliefs that by taking her time to smoke and arriving when she deems right are the best ways for her. Her inner cognitions are that she can smoke anytime she wants and arrive whenever she feels to because after all she has a right of doing so. Her personal beliefs are so strong that she responds by developing ways that contradict the set rules and thus ensuring that her behavior matches the inner cognitions. That is why she does get to work early and smokes without worrying about times, since they represent behaviors that conform to her inner cognitions. Her behavior is a display of high cognitive dissonance. In contrast, in the case of her performance in a group and when alone, the source of conflict arises from her inner belief that productivity arises from group work, contrary to the individual job performance. Therefore, she reacts in order to conform to her inner cognitions, by adjusting and giving all her efforts in a group and thus performing better. However, in the situations in which she works on her own, her inner cognitions are clear that productivity can be achieved through group work. For her to achieve………………………..
